Privacy
Begat has no accounts and does not track you as an individual. You cannot sign in, nothing you do is tied to who you are, and the site sets no cookies of its own.
Analytics
Begat counts visits with Umami, an open-source analytics tool that Begat runs on its own server. Umami sets no cookies and stores no personal data. It does not keep your IP address, and it does not follow you from one site to another. It records the page you visited, the page that sent you, your country, and your browser, operating system, and screen size, all as totals.
Umami also counts a few named actions, so that we know which parts of a page are used. Each records only the action, and for some actions the link or book involved:

Advertising
Begat does not show advertising at present. If it does later, this page will say so first, name the network, and say what that network may record.
What Begat does not do
- No accounts, no sign-in, and no newsletter list.
- No tracking of individuals, and no data sold or shared.
- No forms that collect personal data. If you write to us, your message is used only to answer you.
The site is static pages served over HTTPS. The fonts are served from Begat itself. The map and chart libraries are loaded from cdnjs, a public library host, which sees an ordinary request for the file.
